Three Dogs Needing a Home or Permanent Foster--Including a PUG named Miss BUG!!
My dear friend Chrystal of Winnie's Wish cathouse also helps a local shelter out by fostering a few of the dogs during the cold, winter months in Illinois and then returns them to the shelter to find homes. Three little angels that she has in her care need to go to a permanent foster or forever home. Please help by reading her post (that I have copied below) and share if you do not plan on saving one of these sweeties. I want to hear that someone out there will find it in their heart to love one of these loveable babies. BTW--There is a old, pug lady among the group...and if Lily did not have her issues with other females...it would have been a no-brainer for the Slimmer family. Any of my other pug peeps without a possessive pug out there that will help Miss Bug?
Please spread the word. Please pray friends.
Much Love,
Mama Mindy :)

Forever Homes for these Foster Dogs
You remember Canyon – yes? He has been here with me since the early part of November. You can read the whole story here. But let me just copy & paste something that was said about Canyon by the people who were initially looking for a shelter to take him. It broke my heart then, and it breaks my heart all over again reading it now. They said – Sitting in the corner, 8-year old Canyon never moves. He just looks down mostly. He gave us a glance but that's where he stayed. After taking his photo I noticed his pen door didn't close. When I brought that up to the folks there, they said it doesn't close but not to worry, he never leaves his pen. I guess he thinks anything outside of the pen isn't worth seeing, why bother... nothing out there for Canyon. Can we show Canyon the world? Can we show him lots of love and attention and joy to lighten his old bones and put emotion on his face other than existing? Can we show Canyon that beyond the gate there are great things to see? Let’s get this old fella a Rescue please! Along with the description was this picture: Once with me, we had several challenges. He was overweight from no activity. He was completely un-socialized. And he was heartworm positive. He’s been here four months. He has lost a little weight. He has been through heartworm treatment. And he is has come a long way in terms of socialization. Canyon is a sweet, very sensitive dog. He does not make adjustments easily and changes upset him. But he deserves a real life now in a home of his very own. There surely MUST be a wonderful loving person out there somewhere who will give Canyon a chance. Patience, understanding, and love are all Canyon needs. I would love for Canyon to go right from here at my place into a home. That can happen if someone would choose Canyon during the month of March. By the first of April, Canyon will have to move to the shelter. He has so much trouble with change. And shelters are, by nature, chaotic places. PLEASE spread the word everywhere. Canyon needs a home of his own NOW.
Next is Soup. You can read his story here. Soup would require NO adjustment period whatsoever in a new home. He is an older dog and heartworm positive. But you wouldn’t know it by watching him. He has energy and SO much love to give. He has been here with me for all of February so that he could be in a heated environment. He will return to the shelter in less than a week. Soup needs a permanent foster home. The problem is that he doesn’t get along with smaller animals. We aren’t even sure if he would do OK with another dog his size. But there surely MUST be a home out there somewhere that is perfect for Soup. Soup needs a real home NOW.
Finally – meet little Bug. I ended up with Bug because of her multiple initial physical problems. She has a bad eye, breast tumors, and for over a week – screaming diarrhea (to put it delicately). We have that last issue behind us now. She will be spayed this week and return to my kennel to recuperate. After that, Miss Bug the Pug will be ready for a home of her own. She is an older dog, but she still has energy. She taps around all over the place like a little dancer. She is sweet, sweet, sweet. Bug needs a real home.
I’ll be posting this to the shelter’s FB page with gigantic hopes that ALL THREE of my foster dogs will be chosen to start living The Good Life. See you tomorrow.

We are stopping by to thank you so very much for the lovely card we received in the mail today - you are so kind and thoughtful to do that. Somehow your blog is not showing up in our Feedly list - Mom is going to try to take care of that tonight. Thanks again - it helps to know that so many cared so much for dear Phantom.
