2nd Edition: Mama Mindy's Week 3 of Classes: Anything But Normal...

Hi friends!
Those of you who have been following this blog since August have realized that I do a weekly post (when school is in session) about how my pre-service teaching career aka "the teacher gets educated" years are going.

My classes this semester  total 14 hrs.

In order (Monday-Thursday), my classes are:

Mon.- Planning & Assessment WITH Teaching Science in Elementary Schools (1 hr. + 2 hrs)

Tues.- Reading for the Elementary Teacher I (3 hrs.)

Wed.- Collaborations & Strategies (On-line class--3 hrs.)
Wed.- Teaching Social Studies in the Elementary School (2 hrs.)

Thurs.- Mathematics for Elementary/Middle School Teacher II (3 hrs.)

 

Planning & Assessment WITH Teaching Science in Elementary Schools (1 hr. + 2 hrs.)
Class this week went much better than last week.  The horizon looks busy but with my instructor having more focus and a plan. 

 

Homework to do:  Read Chapter 5 of Cue Up and Unpack and Come up with my question for Astronomy/Earth Science Study.

 

Reading for the Elementary Teacher I (3 hrs.)

No Class--SNOW DAY

Collaborations & Strategies (3 hrs.)
This week we have to watch four videos on-line about Powerful Teaching Strategies and Accommodations with RTI and discuss in writing five specific strategies that I would use in the general education classroom to impact student success.  Also, I have to write a three paragraph reflection about new information that I have learned to this point in class and reply to three other classmates post about this same issue being sure to be specific and give examples (i.e. in-text citations). 

 

Homework to do:  I still have to do all of this not because I did not want to get it done, but because of the weather my grounded internet connection is having issues.  Tomorrow (Monday) I will go to my local library and see if it is just me that is having problems with downloading videos and viewing pictures.

Teaching Social Studies in the Elementary School (2 hrs.)
 No Class--SNOW DAY

Mathematics for Elementary/Middle School Teacher II (3 hrs.)
We went over Ch. 9, section 5 and Ch. 10, section 1 this week.
 9.5-- Using Permutations and Combinations in Probability
 10.1--Designing Experiments/Collecting Data

  Homework to do: 9.5 & 10.1 in text

  Week #3 was not a normal week at all due to weather causing two classes to cancel and my internet to not function properly.  I think Week #4 should be more "normal" and will tell me how the rest of the semester should go...which I hope I will survive and still have time to eat, sleep, and stay positive.

PS:  Due to internet troubles, it has been difficult for me and the pugs & purrs to view your blogs.  Hopefully, we will get that fixed soon and catch up.

Update 2/9/2014 6pm...God and Jesus answered my prayer...the Internet is  Back!! Yay!  I can finally catch up on all blogs since Wednesday and do my on-line assignments!! Yahoo!
