Power of the Paw Request Needed for Gracie Lynn

Slimmer Pug Family, Full-Body Power of the Paw

Hi friends!
Mama Mindy here.

Today, I took Gracie for a routine 6-month blood work as she is on a arthritis medication that has to have her kidneys and liver monitored.  The blood work was a little high on the kidneys...that is not the issue however.

While on examination, they noticed her walk.  It's basically like she has a motor without direction.  A "wonky" walk as I call it...think of a drunk that goes this way and that down a sidewalk without any particular directional control.  That's Gracie's walk.

Her knees that Blogville sent power of the paws and helped fund the surgery of are just fine.  Her hips felt fine and so did her lower back.  However, due to the nature of her walk and the fact that she lacks mobility control, she is to have two X-rays on Wednesday.  The vet will X-ray her back to make sure all is well with her spine, no slipped-disks and such and then an X-ray of her hips.  I am extremely concerned after seeing so much pain in Blogville due to neurological issues and cancers that I am a bit overwhelmed as is my mom, Mama CJ.

Your power of the paw is needed to help Gracie's vet find out what is going on with our girl and that it is something we can fix.  She is only 7, almost 8 years of age, which is quite young/middle-aged for a pug, not a senior age as it is in most other dog breeds.  Gracie Lynn is our baby girl and little mama to the rest of her siblings.  Anything being wrong with her would be devastating to our family.

God Bless you all,
Mama Mindy

Note:  After reading Frankie & Ernie's heart-felt responses, I realized I forgot to mention that Gracie's walk has been this way for the past 6-months or so.  I took her to the veterinarian when it first developed for another follow up unrelated and they did a similar exam (without X-rays) and told me to watch it.  It has progressed but not gotten any worse beyond the current wonky walk.  I do hope it is something that can be fixed through massage, therapy, or even--{{{shudder}}} surgery so that she can go back to feeling zero pain and walking that is beneficial to her life's quality.  Right now, we pick her up and down off of furniture (unless the little stinker jumps before we get there) and we try to take her up and down stairs (unless again, she cannot wait for us to help her).  She doesn't seem to be in any additional pain that her current medicines seem to be helping, but then again, our babies are good at disguising pain.  Part of me is glad the veterinarian wants to do the X-rays just so we can insure all is fine.
