George Pooh's 2nd eye check up: Great news!!

Hi friends!
Mama Mindy here.  Yesterday, George had his second eye check up since his conjunctival eye graft surgery for his left eye. Great news for George!!

Two new interns, Rick and Jessica, came in and did an ophthalmic (i.e. eye) exam, fluorescent eye stain, tear measurement, and eye pressure measurement for both of George's eyes.  Dr. Stuckey reported the results of the tests and how proud she was of George and the care he was receiving.

Results:
The ophthalmic exam showed that George's surgery is healing "remarkably" well.  Both eyes are producing enough tears and there are no scratches on the lens of George's eye.  The eye pressures were slightly elevated...but probably due to the fact that George might have "white coat syndrome" like people have plus he was starting to stress out with people messing around and with his eyes.

What happens now?
George's finished his oral medication last night--no more Clavamoxx. Hip, hip, hooray! ((May normal poops return!!)) He only needs the Systane eye gel to lubricate his eyes once a day instead of three times a day and only as needed (so we might be able to get rid of this one all together).  His Tobramyacin remains unchanged for the next week of six drops per day, then after that he goes to four time a day until his next visit.  This morning I am calling in for his new eye treatment to treat his pigment keratitis called Tacrolimus; it is not a steroid like his previous drop but it does have an issue in the fact it is an immunosuppressant.   George also is cone-free ((which he was anyway...but now it says so on paper from the dog-tors)).

Next visit?
Two weeks from Wednesday ((Spring Break)): Wednesday, March 19th at 1:30pm.  This will probably be George's final visit with the eye specialist just to make absolutely sure that there is nothing else to be done for his eyes. :)

Thank you all and blessings to you for wishing us good weather coming and going yesterday.  Continue to pray for George that he has no more health setbacks and that his eye heals as perfectly as an eye can heal after this type of surgery.

We (my mom and I) are still exhausted from the back and forth, but having a week off from visiting Manhattan, KS, and having Spring Break to go up for the FINAL ((hopefully)) visit makes all our exhaustion worth it.

God Bless y'all and celebrate with a Yahoo or a bark or a meow ((or however you like to celebrate within reason))!

Much Love,

Mama Mindy, My mom (Mama CJ), and George

PS:  Toby would like to mention that he had a nail trim on Tuesday and braved it like a soldier!  Got to love my boys!!
