Mama Mindy's Week 13 of Classes: The Final Countdown

Hi friends!

This week was a very short one with only two classes meeting. On the horizon, I see a countdown to FINALS...((shiver))

Elementary Music (2 hours). No Class this week due to Veteran's Day.  Gave me time to do my lesson plan for MicroTeach 3 (teach a music lesson for Grades 1, 2, or 3) & practice my recorder.

Advanced Instructional Technology (3 hours).  My instructor is FINALLY  :) inputting grades on blackboard.  As he said, "It is hard not to pass my class...unless you don't do the assignments...then you can fail it."  So far, I have an A from what he has inputted.

Math for Elementary Ed & Middle School Teachers I (3 hours). This week we were handed our "Performance Assessments" worth 8% of our grade.  Our instructor is looking in to see if she can hold the "observation" portion here or if we all have to drive an hour and a half to Emporia State University's home campus.  The two section we discussed this week ...with Real Numbers and Variables.  Only another class...then an exam...then the Final exam.  Yikes!!

Homework left: Two sections of homework (text only), work on Performance Assessment (due in a few weeks)

Field & Lab Biology (3 hours).  Science Fair and Exam 3, results came in. Not good.  Don't worry, I got good grades, but I thought I could have done better on both especially the Science Fair. Considering all of us students had two weeks to prepare (along with the rest of our hectic schedule), I thought our critics (the judges) were rather harsh and treated our science fair as if we had months to prepare for this event.  In class, we learned about taste, sight, and sound.  The fun part of the night was guessing what sound we were hearing (our backs were turned from the instructor as she engaged our hearing sense and we wrote down what we thought we were hearing).  I did not do well...but it was fun...which was the whole purpose of the experiment.

Homework: None

Elementary Art (2 hours).  Read two chapters of the Art textbook and do the weekly read, write, think assignment.  The chapters read were entitled, "Cognitive and Psychological Factors in Children's Learning and Creative Development" and "A Sequential Curriculum for Kindergarten."

Homework left: Work on Philosophy of Art Education paper and PowerPoint.

I think this next week will go quickly as I have classes from Monday-Thursday; however, my work schedule is light...but I will use that to my advantage as my Wal-Mart schedule for Thanksgiving Week is horrendous...but I will get through it with a smile and kindness (hopefully, fingers-crossed). :)

Much Love,
Mama Mindy
