Hi everyone!
Mama Mindy here as Gracie takes it easy. She had many spine and pelvic X-rays which were CLEAR about one thing...she is fine for....here is the foggy part...NOW. She is "technically" (I use this term loosely as this term that is about to follow just doesn't fit a pug as this particular age) a senior and her hips are as good as a "normal" pugs would look...which apparently "normal" for pugs would be a bit abnormal in most medium and large breed dogs. Then the spine looks good except their was some inconclusiveness between her #2 and #3 vertebrae: she may or may not have a pinched nerve...hence the wonky walk...or it could be because of her hips. Right now, it is again...(dreaded words for all pet parents who want their kids helped NOW)..."Let's watch it and wait and see."
After discussing it with the vet for a moment, Gracie will be treated like a "senior" and will go to the vet twice a year to insure her hips, back, etc. are in fine working order and not causing her any discomfort.
Regarding her kidneys, it is CLEAR that her Creatnine level is a bit high...but more blood and urine was taken to be sent off to an offsite lab to be tested for further evaluation.
So...thanks for the power of the paw. She seems to be in a great mood and her walk only really gets wonky when there are extremes in the weather...and at those times she has an extra pain pill to take.
Sorry that the news isn't so cut and dry...but that's life and we love all of our friends and our kiddos furiends for the love.
God Bless,
Mama Mindy :)

Well Gracie sounds just like my Mom sometimes if the weather gets to cold or to hot her muscles act up and she has problems walking and she has to get up at night and put heat on certain spots. We sure hope she continues to do as well as she should. You are the best momma for getting it all checked out and staying on top of it! Thanks for letting us know.

We all have wonky walks as we age - ask Mommy #2 about that!!!! I think Gracie will be fine and that she has the best family ever who care for her.
Love Noodles
tell Gracie not to worry - our grandma walks funny in the rain too. :) It is hard when there isn't a "fix".
Sounds like you are doing the best you can for Gracie. Bailey has had a wonky walk pretty much all his life, so they are a perfect fit for each other! We will keep the prayers coming that the additional tests on her kidneys will be fine.

Darn Gracie... we would have preferred to hear YES or NO type answers, BUTT it is not BAD.. No MATTER the Breed some of us DO age differently. We guess that PEEPS do that also.
Being treated like a SENIOR might actually have some PERKS. Like you might get to sit in the Bestest Spots.. or Sleep in the Softest places, stuffs like that. SO, we will just look at the GOOD pawts and ignore any pawsible bad ones.
Our mom says she can tell WAY AHEAD when it is gonna Rain or Snow.. THAT is good, isn't it? THAT Way... she can WRITE HERSELF A NOTE... to not furget her umbrella. BAAAAAWAAAAH.
Well, we wish you could have gotten a clearer answer, but at least it's not bad. Keeping up the purrs and prayers!
Gracie you are in good hands. We have all our feets crossed for you

It's so frustrating when we can't get an accurate diagnosis for a problem we know is there but can't put a label on it. We're going through this right now with our oldest pack member, Bailey.
Thank you for the updates,,, Gracie- your kinda like me maybe- I am beginning to walk a little wobbly sometimes too.
I keep the magic bubbles of love and healing - heading your way.

So glad to at least hear that Gracie is fine for now. Sending White Dog healing energies and positive thoughts that she continues to be less wonky and not in pain. Two things to ask your vet about...holistic meds...discus compositum, which White Dog takes because she has a nerve impingement or Alenza which Quinn took (rec'd by 5 Sibes mom) for his back leg issues and wonky walk.
Thank you so very much for the lovely sympathy card and kind words. It is wonderful friends like you all that fill our hearts and shore us up during times of transition. Now how much you are cherished.
Howdy Mates, it's sorta good news for Gracie we think. She's home, safe with her family, has some meds if she needs them and is surrounded by her loving family. Maybe she can tell you when the weather is about to change. Our angel Nana used to know when it was going to rain by her bad shoulder and knee. Take care everybuddy. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory
Sorry I've been gone for a while and missed this, but I'm glad to hear that Gracie is feeling better.
Love,
Christy
Gracie, it is quite good news, we all get wobbly at times and getting older these things happen. Your home and that's the main thing and soooo loved by everyone xx00xx
